The Netflix series “Heartstopper” is about queer teenagers and a lot of love. The third season is scheduled to start in October, but without Olivia Colman. The British star canceled due to scheduling reasons.

The planned third season of the Netflix production “Heartstopper” has to be without an Oscar winner Olivia Colman (50, “The Favorite”) can get by.

The British star said she felt bad about it, but she simply couldn’t fit the shoot into her schedule, according to the US magazine Forbes. At the same time, Colman raved about her experiences with the queer series so far. The actress explained that she was part of “one of the most beautiful things.”

Warm-hearted coming-of-age series

In the first two seasons of the Netflix series, which focuses on two boys in love, Colman played the mother of bisexual teenager Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), who falls in love with his classmate Charlie Spring (Joe Locke). The warm-hearted British coming-of-age series about a queer teenage clique and their feelings and problems premiered in April 2022. The streaming service recently announced the third season premiere this October.

“Heartstopper” is based on the graphic novels of the same name by 29-year-old author and illustrator Alice Oseman. She expressed her regret on Thursday at the loss of the “wonderful Olivia Colman.” They tried everything to get her in front of the camera again, the author wrote on Instagram. Instead of recasting the role of the understanding mother, they would now create other characters from whom teenager Nick finds support.
