Lifetime donations as a business model – a start-up has made it into a billion-dollar company with its biotech research. The gloomy vision of the future arrives.

More than a notable success: The German near-future thriller “Paradise” with Kostja Ullmann and Iris Berben is becoming a worldwide hit in the Netflix movie charts.

In just over two and a half weeks (until Sunday, August 13), Boris Kunz’s science fiction film, which was released on July 27, was viewed 31.2 million times, according to Netflix. It is at the top of the list of non-English language films worldwide for the third week in a row.

The number of views cannot quite be equated with the number of viewers. The number of views is an arithmetic figure that, according to Netflix, is the result of dividing the hours watched by the duration of the respective production.

“Heart of Stone” at number 1

In the weekly top ten English-language Netflix films, the American action film “Heart of Stone”, which was only released on Friday (August 11), in which Matthias Schweighöfer also plays, achieved 33.1 million views within just three days.

It stars Gal Gadot. The Israeli is “triumphantly returning to Netflix’s top 10” – “two years after her starring role in ‘Red Notice’, the most popular Netflix film of all time,” said the streaming service.

The action comedy “Red Notice” starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds alongside Gadot became available on Netflix in November 2021 and had around 230.9 million views in the first three months (or 91 days; Netflix does not disclose other figures).
