Strangulation, hematomas, sexual intercourse… The autopsy confirms a violent death

The autopsy confirmed what investigators already knew. Iris C., whose lifeless body was discovered near Lorient on Saturday May 27, was indeed the victim of a murder. The naked body of the 23-year-old young woman had been seen floating on the surface of Blavet in Lanester, near Lorient (Morbihan). According to the Lorient prosecutor’s office, the autopsy revealed multiple traces of violence suffered by the young Breton woman confirming the criminal origin of the death.

According to the report of the two experts from the forensic institute, Iris C. had traumatic lesions and hematomas on the head and face, probably after being hit by a blunt object. The victim’s body also showed signs of strangulation which could have resulted in asphyxiation. It is not known at this time whether this asphyxiation is linked to these traces or to the drowning. The autopsy also revealed “the recent nature of sexual intercourse”, said the prosecutor, “without it being possible to affirm the existence of violence in this respect”.

Several analyses, in particular toxicological ones, will be carried out and will provide answers to the questions of the investigators and the family. It is now the judicial police of Rennes which is seized of the investigations “because of their complexity, their volume and their technicality”, indicated Stéphane Kellenberger.

Originally from Guidel, Iris C. had spent the evening in a bar in Lorient before her disappearance. According to witnesses quoted by Le Télégramme, the young woman had been seen staggering at the exit of the establishment, accompanied by several men. A suspect, a member of his entourage, was taken into custody on Saturday before being released.
