Watch the video: Storm Lee keeps residents of Canadian provinces in suspense

Strong winds swept across the Canadian province of Nova Scotia over the weekend. Storm Lee was responsible for driving hurricane-force gusts across the region, knocking out power lines, toppling trees and whipping up the sea. According to the US National Hurricane Center, winds reached speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour. Local flooding and heavy rain occurred on the east coast of Canada and the USA. Halifax Airport has been temporarily closed. Authorities urged people to stay at home and refrain from tourist activities. Lee has been raging over the Atlantic as a major hurricane for more than a week and briefly threatened Bermuda, but remained largely unaffected on land. It is the second year in a row that such a strong storm has reached Canada. A year ago, Hurricane Fiona swept across the east of the country.
