Storm in the news blog: Winter weather paralyzes parts of Germany

The winter weather is slowing down rail traffic in parts of Germany. A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn (DB) said in the afternoon that there were delays and cancellations in regional and long-distance transport. Bus and rail replacement services are also severely restricted in some regions due to the formation of black ice. The spokeswoman cannot yet say how long the disruption to rail traffic will last.

As a precaution, Deutsche Bahn (DB) limited the maximum speed of its ICE trains to 200 km/h today. “This will lead to further disruptions nationwide,” says Deutsche Bahn.
