Anyone who wants to buy a new television faces a big problem: the market offers countless devices that differ greatly in terms of the technology used, the size and the features offered. Stiftung Warentest put the best TVs of the year through their paces and also discovered some inexpensive devices with good performance. The complete overview can be found in the current test issue 01/2023.
Size and technology determine the price
The TV sets from LG did particularly well in this test marathon. But the devices from Samsung, Panasonic, Sony and Philips were also put to the test. The televisions were differentiated according to size: very large 65-inch televisions, large 55-inch televisions, medium-sized 48 and 50-inch televisions and rather smaller 42- or 43-inch televisions. Manufacturer LG was able to assert itself as the winner in all sizes. The OLED models of the G1 and C2 series in particular were completely convincing in the test. However, quite high prices are due for this. The test winner was the medium-sized 48-inch LG OLED48C27LA television. But the South Korean manufacturer Samsung can also score with the GQ55S95BAT, while the 50NANO809PA from LG is one of the cheapest “good” televisions in the test, but buyers have to do without the latest OLED technology.
Test winners and leaderboards
Among the very large TVs, the LG OLED TV OLED65G19LA performed best. The test winner in the 55-inch category is the LG OLED55C27LA. On the other hand, if you are looking for a TV with a 48-inch diagonal, the LG OLED48C27LA is the best choice. Anyone looking for a new television or monitor will find it in our leaderboards also the cheapest and most worthwhile devices.
