‘Walking Dead’ star lands Marvel role

After “The Walking Dead” and an Oscar nomination, Steven Yeun is approaching the next milestone: a role in a Marvel film.

Steven Yeun (39) was able to gain a loyal fan base with his role as Glenn Rhee in the AMC series “The Walking Dead”. Now the actor is apparently about to take on a leading role in another well-known franchise. As the US industry website “Deadline” reportsYeun will star in the upcoming Marvel flick Thunderbolts, based on the comic book of the same name.

According to the report, it has not yet been announced which Part Yeun was able to get hold of. However, it is said that this could be more than just a one-off role. He will meet a large number of well-known heroes and antagonists of the MCU in the film: Florence Pugh (27) as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan (40) as the Winter Soldier, David Harbor (47) as the Red Guardian, Olga have already been confirmed Kurylenko (43) as Taskmaster, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (62) as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and Wyatt Russell (36) as a US agent. Together they form the eponymous group Thunderbolts, which can be understood as an alternative to the Avengers.

Jake Schreier (41) will direct “Thunderbolts”, “Black Widow” writer Eric Pearson (38) is responsible for the screenplay. The targeted US theatrical release is already certain: it should be on July 26th of the coming year. “Thunderbolts” also has the honor of being the final film of the fifth MCU phase.

Gained a foothold in the film business

In addition to his role in “The Walking Dead”, which Steven Yeun embodied until the sixth season, he recently caused a stir with the horror film “Nope”. The greatest success of his career so far was an Oscar nomination in the category “Best Actor” for the drama “Minari: Where We Put Roots”. In the end, however, he had to admit defeat to Anthony Hopkins (85), who was honored for “The Father” at the 2021 awards.
