Stellantis shows excellent results. The automobile group, resulting from the merger between the French PSA and the Italian-American Fiat-Chrysler, announced on Tuesday October 31 a turnover up 7% in the third quarter, as well as an increase in its sales of 11% globally. Stellantis, launched like its competitors in the electrification of its models, now overtakes Tesla in the number of electric cars sold in Europe. The group claims second place on the Old Continent, behind Volkswagen, but for the first time ahead of Tesla, on the electric car market alone.
The group is banking heavily on the electric version of the C3
A performance which can be explained by the success of several of its models, notably the Jeep Avenger but also the Peugeot 208, the Fiat 500 and the Citroën Ami. These good figures also extend beyond European borders, since the group shows an increase in sales of electric vehicles of 37% worldwide, compared to the same period last year. These results were published despite strikes lasting almost six weeks in the United States and Canada, which had an impact of three billion euros on turnover according to Stellantis. A preliminary agreement was finally reached on Sunday and Monday with the American and Canadian unions, in particular in exchange for wage increases.
For the year 2024, Stellantis does not, however, set quantified objectives but is counting heavily on the future Citroën e-C3, presented on October 17 and marketed in a few months at the single price of 23,300 euros without bonus in most European countries. . The stated ambition is to eventually make it the best-selling model in Europe, a position currently occupied by the Tesla Model Y.
