Steinhöring: Berger Lacke dries out – Ebersberg

In spring, after a wet winter, the Berger Lacke near Steinhöring can be almost two meters deep in some places. This year it is difficult to even recognize that it is a pond. Hot summer weeks have allowed the Berger Lacke to dry out almost completely. The bottom of the pond lies in thick, cracked slabs, with dead pond mussels stuck in between. However, this is not a completely new phenomenon, it has also occurred again and again in recent years. The small Steinhöringer Weiher has no source tributaries, it is fed solely by surface water – and if none follows, the pond just dries up slowly. The water level has also dropped noticeably in the other lakes in the district. The water quality is everywhere but still good, like that regular checks by the district office have shown so far.
