curtain, applause, happiness. The same ritual for as long as anyone can remember, and yet it feels special on this theater evening in early June. After two years of pandemic restrictions, the first performance at the Berliner Ensemble, where the audience is allowed to shout their Bravos up to the stage without FFP2 masks, is coming to an end. One of the bowing performers is caught in an unusually large cheer. As if the audience’s affection was not only for her acting skills, but above all for her as a special woman.
