Statistics – The desire to travel has risen sharply – Bavaria

The desire to travel after the lockdown was greater in June 2021 than it was a year ago. The approximately 11,300 accommodation providers opened in Bavaria in June recorded 1.9 million guest arrivals, which is 10.4 percent more than in June 2020, as the State Office for Statistics announced on Monday in Fürth. In addition, 6.2 million overnight stays were counted in June 2021 – 14.1 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. For the first half of the year, the State Office in Bavaria registered 4.1 million guest arrivals and a good 14.7 million overnight stays. However, the first half of the year was largely marked by restrictions to combat the corona pandemic and there was little tourist traffic. For comparison: in 2019 there were already more guest arrivals in January and February than in 2021 in the entire first half of the year. In its survey, the State Office refers to hotels, guest houses, inns and conference centers with ten or more guest beds as well as campsites with more than ten parking spaces.
