Statistics show black spots in the district of Ebersberg. – Ebersberg

The good news first: The number of fatal accidents in the Ebersberg district is declining. This emerges from the accident atlas, the latest edition of which examines the years between 2016 and 2021. According to this, exactly one person died in a traffic accident in the year before last, in 2020 there were still six traffic fatalities in the district, and even ten a year earlier. This is likely to be due to the slight decrease in traffic due to Corona – the accident black spots have always remained the same.

the accident atlas, which is published by the Federal Statistical Office and the State Statistical Offices, lists, among other things, where people were injured in road traffic in the years in question. Unsurprisingly, this happens particularly often where there is a lot of traffic, for example on the B 304 and the A 94. And on both roads, the number of accidents increases the closer you get to the state capital.

The last stretch of the A94 before the interchange is particularly dangerous

In 2021, for example, there were 30 accidents involving personal injury on the section of motorway between Forstinning and the western district border – that’s about as many as on the section between Forstinning and Dorfen, which is more than twice as long. This frequency of accidents was even clearer the year before, when there were 20 accidents between the Neufarn entrance and the motorway junction alone. Just as many occurred in 2020 on the section between Neufarn and the district border.

Even in the years 2016 to 2019, i.e. before many commuters started working from home because of Corona, the last section of the A 94 before the motorway junction was one of the most accident-prone roads in the district. Between Neufarn and the A 99 alone, there are between ten and 15 crashes a year on average. Since 2016, a total of three people have died in accidents on the autobahn between Anzing and the district border.

There are often crashes on the Wasserburger Landstrasse between Spannleitenberg and the Autobahn

The B 304 in the area of Vaterstetten and Grasbrunn is less deadly but also a black spot. In 2021, people were injured twelve times on the section between the Zornedinger bypass and the access road to the A 99 – not counting the eight accidents on the motorway access roads. The statisticians list a total of 15 accidents with personal injury here for 2020, in the last year before Corona there were even 17 plus eight on the motorway ramps. People seem to have been a little more cautious there in 2018 and 2017, when eleven and nine injuries were counted respectively – in 2016 there were still 17 accidents with injuries.

The development is similar in the local area of the B 304 from Kirchseeon and Eglharting: between Spannleitenberg in the east and the beginning of the Zorneding bypass in the west, a total of 14 accidents involving personal injury were counted in 2019, the year after that there were 13 and in 2021 there were 15 injuries in accidents the part. This area of the B 304 is also the only one in the Ebersberg district where there has been a fatal accident in recent years, that was in 2018, when there were actually a below-average number of crashes with a total of eleven accidents.

In the forest, the number of accidents has recently decreased, probably because of Corona

On the other hand, on the state road 2080 through the district town and the forest, the number of accidents with injuries fell more significantly in the Corona years. In 2019, 15 people were injured in the area between the district court junction in Ebersberg and Schwaberwegen, and one less the following year, with one road user dying each time. In 2021, on the other hand, only seven accidents with injuries were registered, and there were no fatalities.

In addition to the major traffic axes, the local roads are not entirely harmless. Although the accidents are distributed relatively evenly here, so that it is difficult to identify any real focal points – fatal accidents happen again and again in built-up areas; the only one of this kind happened in 2021 in Vaterstetten. A year earlier there had been one fatal accident in Poing and one in Oberpframmern.

According to statistics, cyclists are relatively often involved in accidents

The statistics also provide information on who has which accident risk and where: Cyclists appear to be particularly at risk in built-up areas, the majority of those involved in accidents who were injured in recent years were cycling in a town or municipality in the district. Fatal accidents on the thoroughfares are often the result of collisions with trucks or motorcyclists involved in accidents.

Incidentally, according to the statistics, the weakest participants, the pedestrians, are comparatively rarely injured in road traffic. However, they should be careful if they are traveling in one of the two towns in the district: While accidents involving pedestrians only occur occasionally in most communities, they often occur around the Grafinger Marktplatz and in the Ebersberger Bahnhofstraße area.
