SUVs as far as the eye can see. On a normal day in Munich they drive, stand and clog the streets everywhere. One of the explanations that keep coming up for their popularity is that they offer a lot of space. Anyone who has a family with two children or a charging-intensive hobby today buys an SUV. But was there something else? An alternative, large, spacious, economical to run, without that spongy, cloud-like driving experience of a domesticated off-road vehicle? Oh yes: the good old station wagon. Nowhere in the world is it as popular as in Germany, but here too the booming SUV segment is causing problems for the family van.
