State politics: The free voters and the hunt – Bavaria

Aiwanger, Streibl and Co. feel ignored by the Forest Pact. That’s why they attack Prime Minister Söder and Forest Minister Kaniber in the middle of the state election campaign. The latter, in turn, receives explicit support from the Greens’ top candidate, Hartmann.

The Free Voters and the Hunt, that’s a special thing. FW boss Hubert Aiwanger once freely admitted that the best way to get away from the stress in Munich is to go deer hunting at home in Rottenburg an der Laaber in Lower Bavaria. FW faction leader Florian Streibl also makes no secret of his passion for hunting. And Aiwanger’s rather inconspicuous State Secretary Roland Weigert once even wanted to become President of the Bavarian Hunting Association. It was only when Prime Minister Markus Söder Weigert meant that his cabinet post was not compatible with the lobby office and that he had to make a decision, did the FW politician back down and let Ernst Weidenbusch, a member of the CSU state parliament, go first.
