According to the state medical association chiefs, Saxony has to prepare for a triage. Erik Bodendieck expects that two patients will soon have to compete for a bed in certain regions of the state, he said on Monday on Deutschlandfunk.
Unvaccinated people have worse chances
If nothing changes, a selection must be made of who will be treated and who will not. “We have to triage and I will discuss that again with my colleagues in the clinics this week.”
Preventive triage, i.e. keeping beds free, is not legally possible. Those who then have a better chance of successful treatment are preferred. Unvaccinated people would have the worse chances of survival, according to Bodendieck.
