State election 2023: This is how the Starnberg parties are positioning themselves – Starnberg

There is still a year to go before the state elections. But the parties are slowly but surely positioning themselves. For some, the top candidate for voting in the fall of next year has already been determined, while others will still be sorting out the field of applicants in the coming weeks. An overview of the schedules and the most promising candidates.

There will probably be no personnel changes at the CSU, the strongest party in the Starnberg district. In 2018, district chairwoman Ute Eiling-Hütig confidently conquered the direct mandate. And because the winner of the election will also stand for re-election next year, there is no reason for the Christian Democrats to reorganize themselves. Eiling-Hütig doesn’t have to worry about her position as a top candidate – party circles say that they are counting on her going into the election campaign as the CSU’s top candidate. Eiling-Hütig is to be officially confirmed by the district association in mid-October.

The Greens are about to change

There is news from the Greens: Anne Franke will probably no longer want to compete next year. She herself did not want to confirm this verbatim, but there should soon be “a statement from the district association on this subject,” said Franke. The 67-year-old is a veteran of the district Greens. She sat in the state parliament for the first time from 2010 to 2013, and in 2018 she moved to Bavaria’s highest body for the second time. The district association has not yet revealed who wants to succeed her in the competition for the Starnberg direct mandates. However, two people are said to have expressed their interest. Next year will show whether the Greens can also benefit from their federal government participation at the state level. The chances for Franke’s successor to snatch the direct mandate from the CSU this time should be good. On October 5th, the previously unknown candidates will present themselves in a “warm-up” event before the district association makes its final decision on October 26th.

The free voters are much later. Hans-Georg Frinder, deputy district chairman of the Free Voters in the district, has ambitions for the place of the direct candidate. The 60-year-old insurance and real estate agent from Krailling is putting the pressure on and wants the candidate question to be clarified as soon as possible: “We actually wanted to have a final consultation in September,” says Frinder. District chairman and deputy district administrator Matthias Vilsmayer, on the other hand, does not want to confirm any candidacy – not even his own. He expects a decision in October at the earliest, rather later.

The Starnberg SPD first wants to sort itself out next Saturday, then on October 1 they will meet in Gilching to line up for the upcoming state elections. The most promising candidate is ex officio district chairwoman Christiane Feichtmeier: The 49-year-old ran as Starnberg’s top candidate in the last state election in 2018, but missed the entry into the Maximilianeum at the time, also due to the nationwide weak Social Democrats. For Feichtmeier, that’s no reason not to try again: “I’ll throw my hat back into the ring,” she says.

Britta Hundesrügge is a candidate for the FDP

The FDP, on the other hand, has already created clear facts. Last Saturday, the Liberals named district chairwoman Britta Hundesrügge as their top candidate. Hundesrügge was already the face of the Liberals in the 2018 election campaign, but in the end it wasn’t enough for a mandate in the state parliament. In her inaugural speech, Hundesrügge called for the individual responsibility of citizens to be placed more in the foreground again.

AfD and Linke have not yet elected any candidates either – even if a candidacy in both cases is only symbolic. According to district chairman Ingo Hahn, this should happen for the right-wing populists in the winter. The left are also taking their time. A decision should be made “in November at the earliest,” said state manager Max Steiner.
