State election 2023 in Bavaria: Aigner leads the CSU list in Upper Bavaria – Munich

State President Ilse Aigner leads the CSU in Upper Bavaria and Munich in the state election campaign. At a party conference in Germering on Saturday, the delegates voted her number one on the list, ahead of the other cabinet members from the region. Munich CSU boss Georg Eisenreich follows in second place. For many decades, direct candidates were placed on the list as a mere formality, after all, the CSU traditionally won all constituencies in Upper Bavaria. But since the last state election, this guarantee of victory no longer applies – the list could be interesting for Munich residents.

Because in the last election, the CSU lost five of the nine constituencies in the state capital. However, the list gave two losers a belated seat in the state parliament. In the addition of the first and second votes, Ludwig Spaenle and Andreas Lorenz had the best result of all those who had not entered the Maximilianeum as direct candidates. Therefore, they moved up the list when colleagues left during the legislature.

Behind Eisenreich, the CSU delegates placed Markus Blume (sixth place on the list) in the purely Munich ranking. However, the two ministers are relatively safe candidates for victory in the CSU. The situation is different for Susanne Hornberger, who competes in the central constituency, which is difficult for the CSU. But she can hope to be the third woman from Munich and the first woman from the state capital to skim off second votes with tenth place on the list.

But only two places behind her is Ludwig Spaenle, who lost his mandate last time against his renewed opponent Christian Hierneis (Greens). Then on the list are Munich MPs Robert Brannekamper (14th place), Josef Schmid (17) and Andreas Lorenz (19). The former Munich personnel officer and current candidate in Moosach, Alexander Dietrich, is only found in 29th place, his neighbor from Milbertshofen, Christine Müller, in 39th place.
