State aid – Lufthansa pays back – Economy

Lufthansa has completely repaid the financial aid from the German state. Lufthansa announced that the outstanding sum of one billion euros from a silent contribution had been repaid to the economic stabilization fund. The funds not yet drawn were canceled at the same time. This means that all government loans and silent participations totaling 3.5 billion euros have been repaid earlier than expected. From the rescue operation, with which the airline had to be supported because of the almost complete collapse of business in the pandemic, only the state’s share package remains. According to the German government, the 14.09 percent stake will be sold by October 2023 at the latest, as contractually stipulated.
