A 74-year-old died in a traffic accident in Bernried on Lake Starnberg on Friday. The man had vacationed in the Five Lakes Region with his family. The tourists were on Friday afternoon just before 1 p.m. with an SUV on the state road from Seeshaupt in the direction of Bernried, the 24-year-old son was behind the wheel. In Bernried itself, the young man apparently lost control of the vehicle in a slight left turn, which left the road on the right and crashed head-on into a tree.
According to the police, all occupants were trapped and the fire brigade had to free them. The 59-year-old mother in the passenger seat suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Murnau accident clinic by helicopter. The father in the back seat succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The son suffered shock and was taken to a hospital.
