Starnberg:Seebad closed due to cyber attack

The Starnberg indoor swimming pool closed as a precautionary measure after a warning of a hacker attack

A security gap in computer programs is causing excitement for IT experts around the world. The indoor swimming pool in Starnberg, which has been closed on Tuesday afternoon since a warning was issued about a hacker attack, is also affected. As a precaution, the computers there were disconnected from the network and the city’s system. “In the worst case, they could have paralyzed the entire city administration,” said city spokeswoman Marie Babst. The cash register and entry system was switched off, so that operation is not possible and the bathroom could not open on Wednesday. Employees from the city’s IT department worked flat out to reload the entire system. There is currently no confirmation that harmful software has been smuggled into the system because the attack was detected early, the city announced. Because of the weak point in the software called Log4j, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) triggered the highest level of alert on Saturday. It is still unclear when the bathroom can unlock again. The goal was this Thursday. It is still unclear whether this will really be the case: bathers can register at www. seaside resort starnberg. de inform about it.
