Starnberg: All Christmas markets in the district canceled – Starnberg

The fourth corona wave with record numbers of infections is having a massive impact on the run-up to Christmas this year as well: As part of the mayor’s service meeting on Thursday, the decision was made to cancel all planned Christmas markets with municipal participation in the Starnberg district. In view of a “dramatic situation” with high case numbers and full occupancy of the intensive care units at hospitals, events with high public traffic are not justifiable, said District Administrator Stefan Frey. There was agreement on this in the committee. Private organizers are also strongly advised not to attend pre-Christmas meetings or markets. Further cancellations of events are expected in the next few days, including the Memorial Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, the district office reported a new peak value on Thursday for the fourth day in a row: The seven-day incidence is now 358.7, a total of 113 newly infected people. Six positive cases – five residents and one employee – were reported from the Rummelsberger Stift in Starnberg. The highest number of cases of the day came from Gauting (21), Starnberg (13), Gilching and Herrsching (eleven each) and Wörthsee (ten).
