Something is happening with the upcoming “Star Wars” film projects. A start date has now been set for “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. Spoiler in advance: Fans still need a little patience.

There is movement in two upcoming “Star Wars” film projects. Like, among other things The industry magazine “Variety” reports that the eagerly awaited film spin-off of the successful series “The Mandalorian” has received an official release date. “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will appear in US cinemas on May 22, 2026 – around two years from now. Then fans can prepare for new adventures involving the bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his little green protégé Grogu.

“Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi” finds another screenwriter

This means that the great Star Wars saga will continue on the big screen in the foreseeable future. Most recently, the rather disappointing “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” was released in cinemas at Christmas 2019. In the meantime, fans had to make do with the “Star Wars” series on Disney’s streaming service Disney+.

Also reported the “Hollywood Reporter”that James Mangold’s upcoming “Star Wars” film “Dawn of the Jedi” has found another screenwriter. Beau Willimon, who already has an Emmy nomination for writing an episode of the acclaimed “Star Wars” streaming series “Andor,” will work with director Mangold on the film about the origins of the Jedi Order. “Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi” takes place 25,000 years before the events known from the previous films and series, and thus further into the past of the “Star Wars” galaxy than ever before.

An official release date for “Dawn of the Jedi” has not yet been set. Author and director Mangold is currently working on the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” in which Timothée Chalamet portrays the famous singer.
