It is an experience common to all. Make an appointment with a doctor; wait several weeks or even months; being seen late on the appointed day, in a gloomy room, in a hurry… Even if the diagnosis and the treatment are perfect, you sometimes have the impression of not having been treated properly.
Two osteopaths from Lyon, Mehdi Djelamani and Tiphaine Perre, experienced this dysfunction and took it into account when launching their first company, O Santé, in 2019. “We wanted to create a care structure in Vénissieux with doctor friends, to make up for the lack of health professionals in the region”, explains Mehdi Djelamani, before discovering the multiple complications inherent in any new structure. “You need to have financial, administrative, legal, political, real estate skills… We then created an expertise, on the basis of the principle that other health professionals could experience the same problems. »
For better patient care
The Stan group was then born “to support health professionals and communities in the creation of care structures, and the organization of health systems in city medicine”. Surprise: medical deserts also exist in urban areas. “We created an algorithm that allows us to quickly have a global analysis of a territory”, continues Mehdi Djelamani. “We then realized that there were medical deserts in very rural areas, but also in the city center, with extremely long waiting times, impossible care…”
If health professionals are overwhelmed, it is because of “the aging of the population, the increase in long-term illnesses, and an increasingly heavy administrative burden. And we have recently been witnessing a complexification of medicine, in a good way: for an injury, as the diagnoses are more and more efficient, you can have access to different specialists. It requires more and more acts, with few personnel. In large cities like Lyon, there are therefore shortages of care, ”adds the co-founder of the group.
Expertise in demand around the world
Stane’s expertise also extends to the digitization and architecture of care structures, to “optimize places, have better management of flows, air quality, PMR standards, computing… The patient must, as soon as he arrives in a structure, feel considered, welcomed, recognized, protected and cared for”, concludes Mehdi Djelamani.
In Grand Parilly, Stane’s first MPS (multidisciplinary health center) opened in September 2021. Two others will soon open in Brignais and Garibaldi. The group quickly went beyond the Rhone borders to develop throughout France: 450 new structures are planned by 2025. But also in Europe and internationally, where expectations are high.
