“Standing on the Corner” in the House of Art – Munich

The American avant-garde ensemble Standing on the Corner, founded in 2014 by the Puerto Rican artist Gio Escobar, is on 24./25. February guest at the Tune series at Haus der Kunst. The up to 30 musicians have their roots in Africa and the Caribbean and perform in different formations, in the Haus der Kunst as a trio. Their music moves between jazz improvisations, dub, garage noise and lo-fi hip-hop collages. Her works, created for the Serpentine Galleries, among others, combine musical, visual and experimental influences. The one-hour track “Red Burns” was created on September 11, 2017 in New York and is considered an experimental manifesto and collective response to current global events. On the second evening, the ensemble will also show the immersive project “The Sweet Atmosphere Phased at 120º and Went Blank! When The Universe Collapsed” from 2018 at 6 p.m. A film like a psychedelic journey into the unconscious of the African diaspora.
