FC St. Pauli only managed a 1-1 draw against bottom-placed VfL Osnabrück. This meant that the Hamburgers remained undefeated. But that didn’t get them any further in the promotion race.
FC St. Pauli remains at the top of the 2nd Bundesliga, but has given away important points in the promotion race. The league leaders couldn’t get past a disappointing 1-1 (1-0) draw against bottom-placed VfL Osnabrück on Saturday evening. The Kiezkickers remained undefeated, but were unable to really take advantage of their city rivals Hamburger SV’s defeat against SC Paderborn.

Hamburger SV also suffered a setback
City rivals Hamburger SV suffered another setback after seven home wins in a row and the exit from the DFB Cup during the week with a 1:2 (1:1) draw against SC Paderborn. On Sunday, HSV could even slip to fourth place. Despite Laszlo Benes’ opening goal (11th minute), the hosts still gave up the game. Filip Bilbija (21st) and Ilyas Ansah with his first second division goal (62nd) ensured Paderborn’s fourth away win.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth could have benefited from the Hanseatic team’s mistake by jumping to second place, but had to accept the equalizer from Mo El Hankouri (90′) in stoppage time after Tim Lemperle’s 1-0 lead (69′). .

Florian Niederlechner with his sixth goal in the last four league games (49th) and Marc-Oliver Kempf (82nd) scored for the Berliners, who have been undefeated for six games, after the hosts took a 1-0 lead through Almamy Toure (16th). As a result, Hertha achieved its best placement this season as seventh in the table.
Hannover 96 fought back to a 2-2 draw against Karlsruher SC on Friday evening after being 2-0 down, but have now remained without a win for four games. Eintracht Braunschweig achieved their first away win of the season with a 3-1 win at SV Wehen Wiesbaden. With eleven points, Lower Saxony remains in a relegation zone. (dpa/jst)
