As Square Enix’ Yoshinori Kitase revealed on the official website, the Japanese publisher wants to make a big announcement about the “Final Fantasy” series this year. What we are dealing with in detail has unfortunately not been revealed.
In keeping with the new year, the leaders of Square Enix addressed the community on the official website and promised an exciting video game year 2023.
What stood out was a statement from producer Yoshinori Kitase, who addressed the players directly and spoke of a big announcement about “Final Fantasy” that should be made this year. Since Kitase did not go into more detail, one can currently only speculate as to what is hidden behind the whole thing in detail.
The only thing that is certain so far is that the announcement will not refer to “Final Fantasy VII”. So she has nothing to do with the recently confirmed plans to do with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII.
Is Final Fantasy IX Returning?
In the past, the rumor persisted that a remake or at least a remaster of the classic “Final Fantasy IX” released in 2000 could be worked on. For example, the remake of “Final Fantasy IX” appeared in the big Geforce Now leak, which we will see in 2021 reached.
And also the event designer responsible at the time, Kazuhiko Aoki pointed already at the end of 2021 news about “Final Fantasy IX”.
