Former sprint world champion and relay Olympic champion Tori Bowie is dead. This was announced by her management. A cause of death was not known. Bowie was only 32 years old.

Former world sprint champion and Olympic relay champion Tori Bowie has died at the age of 32. “We are devastated by the sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,” her management said in a statement. “We have lost a customer, a dear friend, a daughter and a sister. (…) We are heartbroken and our prayers are with family and friends,” it said. A cause of death was not given. “Her impact on the sport is immeasurable and we will miss her dearly,” the United States Athletics Association wrote.

Former world champion and Olympic champion: Tori Bowie is dead

Bowie won the gold medal in the US relay at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She won silver in the 100 meters and bronze in the 200 meters. The track and field athlete achieved her greatest success in 2017 when she became world champion in the 100 meters and in the relay. At the World Championships in London, she finished fourth in the long jump. Tori Bowie won her first major medal at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing with bronze in the 100 meters. Her best time over the 100 meters was 10.78 seconds.
