Spring impressions: The short spring in Munich – Munich is so beautiful

Already on Friday, Munich felt like a city that was thawing. After weeks of shivering and rain jacket weather, the sun finally showed up again at the start of the weekend. Under a blue sky and mild temperatures, the residents of the city were drawn out: to the parks, to the Isar, to the outdoor restaurants. Even in the ice cream parlors, the cash registers rang again after a long lull – such an ice cream cone can be enjoyed much better without gloves.

The awakening of spring continued on Saturday, with temperatures rising above 20 degrees. And because the rain is coming back very soon, many Munich residents took the opportunity to welcome spring. A photographic journey through the city.

The bravest city dwellers went all out and didn’t just stop at sunbathing, but pulled on their swimming trunks and ventured into the Isar. The water temperature according to the Bavarian State Office for the Environment: 10.5 degrees. Brrr.

Those who still feel the cold of the past few days in their bones kept a little more distance to the cool river. From the observer’s perspective high up on the bridge, the danger of getting splashed with water isn’t that great either. Spring can also be experienced dry.

White-blue is the sky, white-blue is also the roof of the chain carousel at the Munich Spring Festival, which opened on Friday. Of course, thousands of visitors came to the Theresienwiese on Saturday. Also because of the popular large flea market.

Not only did the residents of the city gradually thaw under the hours of sunshine, but nature also received a boost. The daffodils on Pariser Platz in Haidhausen, for example, look as if they have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Even if the flowers are popularly called daffodils – they only unfold their full splendor under a blue sky. Two weeks after the Bibber Easter festival.

The grasses are also suddenly much greener and juicier, which allergy sufferers notice particularly clearly these days. People sniff and blow their noses, enjoy and cough. Anyone who didn’t catch a cold in the gray late winter is now suffering from hay fever. The daisies don’t give a damn, they dare to come out of cover – without fear of pollen dust or the young footballers training in the background.

Goose close to people: This young family of geese is out and about on the Isar at the Müllersches Volksbad and doesn’t let the sunbathers on the gravel bank disturb them during swimming lessons for the youngsters.

The most popular areas this weekend are parks, street cafés and sports fields. When you look at this picture, you immediately smell the sweet smell of days gone by in school, when physical education lessons were shifted from the gym to the outdoor hard court when the weather was nice – and you were allowed to play football for the whole double lesson. uh

Professional athletes are probably less happy about the high temperatures. At the BMW Open tennis tournament this Saturday, the players will work up a sweat, which takes a lot of energy. For example the Dane Holger Rune, who won the competition last year. He made it to the final this time too. It takes place on Sunday. In any case, the sun will not stand in the way of his victory. Because then it will be over again with the spring idyll. It’s supposed to rain.
