Unknown people sprayed butyric acid on the premises of the open-air theater in Lübeck. An election campaign event of the Schleswig-Holstein Greens was to take place there on Saturday afternoon, to which Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock was also expected. A police spokeswoman said the event had been canceled for security reasons. An event planned for the evening with Baerbock in Ahrensburg in the Stormarn district should take place as planned.
Green employees noticed a pungent odor while preparing the stage in the morning and called the fire brigade. According to the party, no one was injured.
The Greens in Schleswig-Holstein sharply condemned the incident: “No such attack will change our political positions; on the contrary, it makes it clear once again that individuals are not concerned with argumentative arguments,” said a statement. The Lübeck cultural scene is suffering, and it is hoped that the open-air stage can be resumed quickly.
