Almost 12,000 participants, including 700 children, started the Sportscheck city run on Sunday morning, highly motivated.
The first were already warming up on Theatinerstraße on the way to the Siegestor, where the start and finish areas were.
Tony Tomsich from Tübingen won the half marathon over 21.1 kilometers through the English Garden in a time of one hour and eleven minutes among the 5500 runners in this discipline.
Clara Carste won the women’s race. She completed the route in a time of one hour and 19 minutes. Distances of five and ten kilometers were also covered.
Despite the early hour and the mixed weather, there was a throng of spectators, especially during the children’s run, which started right after the big half marathon. For the little ones it was two laps over two kilometers. Some adults seemed to be even more excited than the actual protagonists, who approached the goal relatively unimpressed and cool.
A very special moment was when 13-year-old Giulia, whose face was beaming with joy and pride, was the last to cross the finish line. The physically handicapped girl completed the race with a wheeled walker and reached the finish line.
