The Spice Girls are said to be planning a five-piece comeback for their 30th anniversary next year. A very special performance is said to be planned.

Next year the Spice Girls will celebrate their 30th anniversary. Supposedly there are plans behind the scenes that the group will be on stage for the first time since 2012 – including Victoria Beckham (49). How The British “Sun” further reports that a very special highlight is planned: an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.

Victoria Beckham is said to have finally gotten involved again in a long time

In recent years there has been speculation about a reunion with all members. Most recently, the Spice Girls, who had their greatest successes in the 90s, were five on stage in 2012. At that time they had performed a medley of their hits at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in London. As “The Sun” now wants to know, there have been talks for a five-man comeback for six months. Emma Bunton (47), Geri Horner (50), Melanie Brown (48) and Melanie Chisholm (49) have already agreed on tour dates in 2024. Victoria Beckham, who hasn’t performed with the group in recent years, also brought “ideas to the table.”

Accordingly, the former girl group is considering an appearance on the famous Pyramid stage in Glastonbury. The newspaper quotes a source as saying: “For the past few years, the Spice Girls have always been a foursome, but for the first time in a long while, Victoria is now taking part and is delighted to be celebrating a groundbreaking 30th anniversary.” It continues: “There will be no new music and Victoria is adamant that she does not wish to perform live unless an incredibly exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity arises. The group have been in talks to headline Glastonbury to be able to, and this would suit Victoria’s ‘cool’ aesthetic.” Mel C fueled the rumor mill back in May with her solo performance at the festival. According to The Sun, she said, “All the Spice Girls would love to play Glasto, that’s the truth. As I said to the audience as I sang a bunch of Spice Girls songs, ‘A little warm up for next year?'” At the time she already explained that a big announcement is coming.

In addition to the reunion, there are apparently other Spice Girls plans in the drawer: there could be a TV documentary with footage that has never been seen before. Netflix and Apple TV are said to be interested in securing the rights.

With “Wannabe” they became world famous

The band formed in 1994 and reached number 1 in 37 countries in 1996 with their debut single “Wannabe”. Their first six singles also ended up at number one. The Spice Girls became a symbol of ’90s feminism. However, Geri Horner gave up in 1998 and in 2000 the whole band went on hiatus. All singers started solo careers. They reunited briefly in 2007 for a worldwide tour, with tickets for their London O2 performance selling out in two minutes. Five years later, they performed at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics. In 2019, Beckham went on a tour of the UK.
