The brewery Riegele once invented the mixed drink. In an interview, the company bosses talk about its origins, the brand fight with Paulaner and explain why Spezi is so well received, especially in Bavaria.

There have been around 100 legal disputes over Spezi’s trademark rights, and proceedings are currently underway at the Munich Regional Court because Paulaner has sued its Augsburg competitor Riegele. Sebastian B. Priller-Riegele, 47, and his father Sebastian Priller, 72, run the company. Before the conversation – how could it be otherwise – they quickly open a bottle of the sparkling mixed drink.
