The maneuver, the consequences of which kept the Poinger police in suspense on Wednesday morning, should have been ready for film. Officials are still looking for witnesses who observed the accident caused by a 37-year-old driver from Plieningen in Grub. A 16-year-old trainee paid for the probably not entirely voluntary stunt of the Plieninger with a hospital stay. But that was only the beginning of the story. It ended – for the time being – in an attic.
According to investigations, the 16-year-old cyclist wanted to cross Senator-Gerauer-Straße at the intersection of Professor-Zorn-Straße in the direction of Grub S-Bahn station shortly after six in the morning. The traffic light was “green” for him when a black Peugeot came from Landsham and wanted to turn left.
According to what a 25-year-old witness observed, the car was moving fast. This explains why it barely got the corner and went off the road to the right. It touched the front tire of the bike, the driver fell and remained on the asphalt. While it was still swinging, the car took a traffic light pole with it, tore it completely out of its anchorage and bent it. Traffic light broken, cyclists on the ground – the driver drove away anyway.
The good news for the cyclist: After an ambulance took him to the hospital, it was determined that he had no fractures on his face, but he still had to stay in the hospital for the time being. The bad news for those who caused the accident: criminal proceedings await them for endangering road traffic, negligent bodily harm and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident. Your driver’s license is also at risk. Because even hiding in his parents’ attic was of no use to him, the police found the 37-year-old on the same day – albeit with great effort.
A car part put me on the right track
Four police patrols and a helicopter searched for the driver and car for two hours, but in vain.
