A spectacular fire ravaged an eight-story apartment building Thursday night in Sainte-Foy-les-Lyon, in the inner suburbs of Lyon, causing eleven light injuries poisoned by smoke, we learned from the firefighters.
Images posted on social networks showed the facade of the building attacked by flames in multiple places. The firefighters were alerted at 10:10 p.m. and immediately engaged significant resources, fearing the presence of people trapped by the fire. They carried out 60 evacuations. The fire appears to have originated in an apartment and subsequently spread rapidly.
45 lances were used and the fire was extinguished shortly after midnight. The firefighters continued their reconnaissance work to secure the premises and verify the complete evacuation of the building. “There is still a lot of work to do which will last a good part of the night”, we specified at Codis.
