Special meeting of the Berlinale Supervisory Board – Culture

Three weeks after the polarizing closing event of the Berlinale, Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth convened the film festival’s supervisory board in a special meeting on Monday evening. The result is an attempt to smooth things over but resolutely defend artistic freedom. The Berlinale must remain a place “that is free from hatred, agitation, anti-Semitism, racism, anti-Muslim and every form of misanthropy,” says the resolution of the Supervisory Board of the Federal Cultural Events in Berlin (KBB), the umbrella organization of the Berlinale, Berliner Festival and House of World Cultures.
