Kühnert sees Bavaria as a “Reichsbürger” biotope
After the “Reichsbürger” raid, SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert sharply criticized the Bavarian state government: 16 cases from this state alone are in the civil service. He also has doubts about the correct classification of the “Reichsbürger” by the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert considers the way the Bavarian state government deals with the so-called Reich citizens to be inadequate. “The state government has to put up with the question of how Bavaria could become the number one ‘Reichsbürger’ biotope in Germany,” Kühnert told the newspapers of the Bayern media group (online: Sunday, print: Monday).
The reason for his criticism is the disclosure of 16 “Reichsbürger” cases in the Bavarian civil service. This is just the tip of an iceberg of thousands, said the SPD politician. It is significant that Reichsbürger in the last half-yearly report by the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution “were only mentioned in connection with founding schools and information events, but not as armed bearers who were sometimes prepared to use violence”.
Right-wing extremists are now the greatest threat to democracy and the rule of law, followed by Islamic-motivated terrorism and “then by far what is classified as left-wing extremism,” said the Secretary General.
Even after the “Reichsbürger” raid, he was not worried that people like the “funny prince” would take power, explained Kühnert, referring to the main suspect, Heinrich XIII. Prince Reuss. “But I’m worried that such people are also capable of killing people in their daring attempts,” added Kühnert.
The federal prosecutor’s office had 25 suspected “Reich citizens” arrested. She accuses 22 of them of being a member of a terrorist organization that wanted to overthrow the political system. According to reports, the conspirators wanted to form 286 “homeland security companies” that would also carry out arrests and executions after a coup. A former AfD member of the Bundestag was among those arrested.
After the raid on a suspected terrorist network in the Reichsbürger scene, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) announced tough action against anti-state efforts. “We will continue our tough gait against enemies of the state,” said Faeser WELT AM SONNTAG. “That’s why I’m sure we’ll find more.” The AfD accused Faeser of “spiritual closeness” to the Reich citizen milieu.
