SPD chancellor candidate Scholz describes the increase in the minimum wage as his “most important law”. He wants to implement the project immediately in the event of a victory in the federal election.
SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz wants to implement the minimum wage increase demanded by his party immediately in the event of an election victory. “My most important law, which I immediately get on the way, is to organize a raise for ten million citizens,” said Scholz the news channel Welt.
It is an “oppressive message” that an increase in the minimum wage shows that millions of people in the country have to live on low incomes. The SPD wants to increase the statutory minimum wage from currently 9.60 euros per hour to twelve euros.
Scholz is calling for a significantly higher pace of renewable energies
The expansion of renewable energies must be driven forward at a significantly faster pace under a new federal government, demanded Scholz. “New wind turbines have to be approved in six months and not in six years,” said the Federal Minister of Finance. “We have to have participatory procedures, but they mustn’t drag on.”
Laws have to be adapted so that the expansion projects can be implemented. “That will lead to conflicts. But those who do not trust themselves should be silent about the future of Germany.”
Scholz rejects expropriations from housing companies. They would need compensation that would not create a single new apartment. Instead of the rent cap, the SPD chancellor candidate wants to enforce a rent moratorium “so that rents no longer rise excessively, but only along the inflation rate”. The decisive factor, however, is new residential construction.
