After winning the championship, Sparta Prague also won the cup. After the final in Pilsen, hooligans stormed the pitch and there were scenes of violence. The police had to intervene.

The football cup final in the Czech Republic was overshadowed by a fan scandal. After the 2:1 victory of Sparta Prague at Viktoria Pilsen, supporters of both teams stormed the pitch and engaged in sometimes wild arguments, as the CTK agency reported on Wednesday evening.

Riot police had to intervene to separate the fans of the two teams. The public television station CT showed its reporters on the sidelines being pelted with folding chairs. There were no reports of any injuries.

Interior Minister announces measures against fan violence

After the officials had restored order, the trophy was finally handed over to the winners. This is the second such incident in Czech football within a few days. On Saturday, Sparta Prague secured the championship title for the second time in a row with a 5-0 victory over Mlada Boleslav.

Afterwards, several fans of the defeated hosts ran onto the pitch. The Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan then announced the convening of a working group made up of representatives from the police and associations to discuss possible tightening of security precautions.
