They still exist, the good banks. Institutes such as the Sparda banks, where the focus is on people, who do not gamble or carry out risky deals high up in glass towers, which still do private customer business as they did in the past: checking accounts, savings contracts, construction financing. “Sparda Bank. Your bank” is how the Berlin-based Sparda-Bank advertises itself. As part of the cooperative banking group, as one of eleven Sparda banks, its customers are also members of a cooperative.
