First, Jennifer Hermoso protected her association president after the kiss scandal. The statements are obviously false.

Madrid – The kiss scandal at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand is becoming more and more bizarre. As a reminder: Spain’s association president Luis Rubiales kissed the player Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth at the award ceremony after the World Cup triumph.

Born:August 23, 1977 (Age: 46 years old) in Las Palmas
Position:President of the Spanish Football Federation RFEF
In office since:May 17, 2018

Spanish association apparently falsified Hermoso’s statements about the kiss campaign

The 33-year-old then said when asked about the scene: “I didn’t like it.” Only a few hours later, however, a statement from the Spanish association RFEF appeared, in which Hermoso defended their association president.

Literally it said: “The ‘Präsi’ and I have a great relationship with each other. His behavior towards us all was excellent and it was a natural gesture of affection and gratitude.” The Spanish medium Relevo wants to know now, however, that Hermoso never said this.

Spain’s Prime Minister condemns the kissing scene in the strongest possible terms

Rather, the words from the association were put into the mouth of the Spaniard to make Rubiales look better. Furthermore, the 45-year-old is said to have urged Hermoso to record a joint “explanatory video” on the flight home. But the 33-year-old refused.

In the meantime, the Spanish association has also convened an extraordinary general assembly, which is scheduled for Friday, 12:00 p.m. in Madrid. This was announced by the RFEF. Rubiales has been heavily criticized since the action in Spain. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, among others, had strongly condemned the kiss.

Rubiales resignation demanded – but not likely

“What we have seen is unacceptable. And Mr Rubiales’ apologies are not enough, I would call them inappropriate, so he must take further steps to clarify what we have all seen,” the socialist politician told journalists on Tuesday.

Although there are increasing calls for Rubiales’ resignation in Spain, according to the Spanish media it will not happen. It is much more assumed that the association president will receive “massive support”.

Rubiales apologizes and receives support from Rummenigge

And what does Rubiales himself say? At first, the 45-year-old described his critics as “idiots”, but later admitted: “I have to apologize, there is no way around it. And I have to learn from that and understand that as the president of an institution as important as the RFEF, you have to be more careful, especially with ceremonies and these kinds of things.”

Rubiales received a very special kind of support from Germany: Surprisingly, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge defended the action. (kk)
