An entrepreneur from Germany was caught in Mallorca. He is said to have evaded millions in taxes.

The Spanish police have arrested an entrepreneur Germany arrested, who was wanted by the Munich judiciary for tax evasion amounting to millions. Upon request on Saturday, the police confirmed corresponding reports from the local newspapers “Última Hora”, “Mallorca Magazin” and “Mallorca Zeitung”.

The German judiciary accuses the man of not paying a total of 21 million euros in VAT on transactions involving hygiene products during the corona pandemic.

German investigators tracked him down in Mallorca, and the Spanish police arrested him on Thursday in the east of the island in the village of Sant Llorenç, where he tried to live inconspicuously. The man fled Germany when tax investigators became interested in him.

Shortly after the arrest, the German complained of feeling unwell and was taken to a hospital. According to media reports, the suspect is said to have already hired a lawyer in Mallorca to prevent extradition to Germany. Further details were initially not known.
