STORY: After persistent and sometimes heavy rainfall, it looked like this in many rural regions of Spain on Sunday. Madrid’s mayor also recommended people in the capital to stay within their own four walls. The National Weather Service issued a red warning for the regions from Madrid to the city of Cadiz in the south of the country. Citizens were warned of flooding via a warning on their smartphones. Also, nobody should use vehicles. People on the east coast were also asked to stay at home. Eyewitness videos showed roads turning into raging torrents. This man reports that he was awakened by water seeping into the second floor of his home. Two young men were pulled out of the water with towels and sheets tied together. Authorities would not have supported them. According to the fire department, several people had to be rescued from vehicles that had been driven away by the floods.
