Spain: Conservative tsunami sweeps Socialists out of government – Opinion

After the election is before the election. In Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez surprisingly dissolved parliament and called new elections. Sánchez, once a beacon of hope for European social democracy, may have made the decision alone, at dawn after local and regional elections. They gave the socialists a disastrous result, there is talk of a “conservative tsunami”. Spain’s traditional socialist party has lost all bastions. It was only able to hold its own – an explosive detail – where regional politics had distanced itself as far as possible from Sánchez.
