South Korea warns of North Korean nuclear test

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is stoking fears that neighboring North Korea could be on the verge of its first nuclear test in five years. “We assume that Pyongyang has already completed preparations for a seventh nuclear test,” Yoon Suk Yeol said on Tuesday.

The US, South Korea and Japan have all pledged strict and unified punishment for a nuclear test that would violate UN Security Council resolutions. John Kirby, spokesman for US President Joe Biden’s National Security Council, told reporters in Washington that the US believes North Korea “could conduct a nuclear test at any time.”
