The more we move, the faster we work up a sweat. This is not only annoying, it can also be really painful on the thighs: if the insides keep rubbing against each other while walking, sore spots are the result. Find out which tips you can use to better protect your skin here.

Sore thighs are not just a question of weight or gender: Even (normally) slim women and men can chafe their insides if they constantly touch while walking. This is not a cosmetic problem as the chafed areas can quickly become inflamed if you don’t do anything about it. To keep this from happening, however, there are a few simple tricks that can be used all year round if you have sore thighs on a regular basis. Five Tricks: How to Avoid Sore Thighs

1. Bodyglide:
The idea behind this “anti-chafing” product (“Chafing” means “chafing”) comes from high-performance sport: triathletes, racing cyclists or marathon runners suffer more often from chafed skin areas due to the long distances they have to cover. It is waterproof, so that it sticks to the body even if you sweat profusely – and is therefore ideally suited for skin irritations such as sore thighs.

2. Cycling shorts:
Many women wear skirts or dresses more often in summer. The protective fabric of long trousers, through which your bare thighs are normally kept from rubbing against each other, is no longer necessary. An equally proven home remedy for sore thighs is vaseline: The classic lubricant is simply applied to the skin and can reduce friction for a short time – the same also applies to other products that act like a kind of protective film: such as those containing silicone Lube, Coconut oil or a special one Skin protection gel from pjuractive, which can not only prevent blisters on the feet, but also protect against friction on the thighs. However, the effects don’t last that long.

5. Deodorant:
Another aid that all women and men have at home is a deodorant: the active ingredients contained in it can not only prevent profuse sweating (and the associated body exhalations), but also sore thighs. So-called deodorant sticks with a creamy core are best suited for this. Simply rub it over the areas that get sore more quickly – the protective layer ensures that friction is minimized. The effects last longer or shorter depending on how much you sweat.

How to properly treat sore thighs

If your thighs are already sore, you should carefully clean the affected areas with a pH-neutral soap and a little water so that the skin does not become inflamed. Then carefully dry your legs with a towel – preferably with a dabbing motion. You can then cream your skin with a wound protection ointment to support the healing process. Alternatively, you can put on chamomile tea and make an envelope out of it to soothe your thighs and relieve pain.
