Sony: Playstation 5 Slim gets colorful side panels

It was foreseeable: Sony announced the first colorful side panels for the Playstation 5 Slim at CES 2024. As is well known, the new version of the console is only available in white, but now you can also add color to the game after purchasing it.

Side parts (faceplates) in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver have been announced; the magazine The Verge has pictures.

The Dualsense, the gamepad of the PS5, has been available in exactly the same colors for a while now. Sony has not given any information as to when the side panels will be available in stores.

On the standard PS5, the left and right side panels are made of one piece. The Slim has two halves, one with a glossy look and one with a matt look. This means that you could add four different colors to the Slim: red and blue as well as silver and white.

However, that would be expensive fun because you would have to buy three sets – but what can you do as a fan. There is no information about the price of the slim faceplates.

Playstation 5 Slim: maximum color fun for probably around 165 euros

The side panels for the standard console cost around 55 euros, and this probably also applies to the thinner console. Both the version with and without the drive are supported.

In addition to the side panels, Sony did not announce any other hardware related to the Playstation at CES 2024. In the run-up to the trade fair, there was speculation that a more powerful PS5 Pro could be presented; However, this timing wouldn’t have made much sense given that Slim had just been released.
