The entertainers Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz are going to Liverpool in May on behalf of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation: from there they will be commentating on the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Competition for ARD commentator Peter Urban and ORF television commentator Andi Knoll: Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz will also commentate on the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 for Austrian Radio – for the ORF media library and the ORF youth culture radio station FM4 . The two entertainers announced this in the episode of their Spotify podcast “Fest & Fluffy” published on Sunday.

According to a spokeswoman, Böhmermann (42) and Schulz (49) are traveling to Liverpool, just as Urban wants to do for NDR and Erste. Urban, who will be 75 on April 14, has been commenting on the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) on German television since 1997. This year he is doing it for the last time at his own request.

“We are so happy to give Austria back what it gave us after all these years,” Böhmermann was quoted as saying by his office about the campaign. Olli Schulz said: “Finally, what belongs together grows together.”

Due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, Great Britain is the second-placed country this time to host the ESC. The BBC is working with Ukraine on this. In 2022, the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won the ESC in Turin with the title “Stefania”.

The Eurovision final is on May 13th. The ESC semi-finals are scheduled for May 9th and 11th. Austria competes in the second with the women’s duo Teya & Salena (“Who the hell is Edgar?”) and has yet to qualify for the final. Germany is set as one of the big donors for the final – as well as France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and last year’s winner Ukraine.
