A family of four dies in a fire in Solingen, and a few days later there is a machete attack in the city. The same suspect is responsible for both crimes. He has a personal connection to the scene of the fire.

Two weeks after the devastating fire that killed four people in Solingen, the police have identified a suspect. He is suspected of quadruple murder, as investigators announced on Wednesday in Wuppertal. The 39-year-old is said to have tried to kill someone again two weeks later by attacking a man with a machete and critically injuring him. That’s why an arrest warrant has already been issued against him for attempted murder.

The alleged perpetrator is said to be a former tenant of the fire house in Solingen

When investigators searched his apartment after the machete attack, they found incriminating material in the quadruple murder case. The 39-year-old is said to be a former tenant in the back building of the fire house who was evicted because of rent arrears.

He was filmed by surveillance cameras near the crime scene at the time of the crime and showed unusual behavior. Experts discovered traces of accelerant in the wooden stairwell.

A family from Bulgaria who lived in the attic was unable to save themselves. The 28 and 29 year old parents and two girls aged three and a few months were killed.
