Solidarity with Ukraine: Hannover 96 starts relief campaign for refugees

Hannover 96 shows solidarity with the victims of the Ukraine war. The football club has called for an aid campaign for refugees. Spectators can make donations in kind before the DFB Cup game on Wednesday.

Before the DFB Cup quarter-finals against RB Leipzig, second division soccer team Hannover 96 starts a fundraising and aid campaign for war refugees in the Ukrainian-Polish border area.

From 4:30 p.m. to kick-off time at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be a bus in front of the stadium where spectators can drop off donations in kind such as sleeping bags and blankets, warm clothing for adults and children, baby food, hygiene items or non-prescription medicines.

Donation bus to bring refugees from Ukraine

The bus is to leave for the crisis area in the evening and bring 79 people to Hanover on the return journey, the 96ers announced on Tuesday after consultation with the city of Hanover. The city wants to distribute the war refugees to city accommodations after their arrival in Hanover.
