Solidarity agriculture: The Schinkeler Höfe show how it works

Agriculture in harmony with animals and nature, financed by fixed contributions from customers: the concept of “solidarity agriculture” is lived out at the Schinkeler Höfe near Kiel.

What if what many say is not true at all? That prosperity can only be achieved through growth, that organic food is only for high earners – and that as a farmer you can only make ends meet with more and more land? Couldn’t it be different? Up north, a good ten kilometers west of Kiel, they want to try it. A consortium of around 200 private households and five companies has come together to realize what many consider utopian: to produce high-quality food, using resources sparingly, under good conditions for people and animals and at affordable prices.
